Hamper Delivery Program
Our hamper delivery program is an option for those who are unable to attend the Squamish Food Bank (the Market) in person. This could be for a variety of different reasons, for example physical or mental health barriers.
All applications are assessed for eligibility on a case by case basis and preference is given to those indicating the most need.
As our resources are limited, before applying for a hamper delivery please consider the following:
Do you have a friend, family member, neighbor, colleague or healthcare worker who is able to attend the Food Bank for you and collect food on your behalf?
We always try to encourage independence and choice. By attending in person or asking someone to come on your behalf, this often results in less wastage and you receiving the food items you want/will eat.Is your reason for applying for a hamper delivery due to transportation issues? Is there someone you can car share with to the Food Bank? Is there a bus that you can catch?
Do the Food Bank opening times not work well with your schedule? Is there someone in your family who has a different schedule and can attend on your behalf? Did you know we are open on Saturdays too?
Hamper Delivery
Important Information
All hampers are delivered weekly on Friday afternoons between 12:30pm and 2pm only (no exceptions).
Someone must be home to receive the hamper delivery (we will never leave hampers on doorsteps or anywhere else outside).
All hampers are delivered by volunteers and may be delivered in the Squamish Food Bank van.
Hampers are custom made on the day of delivery for each individual/family. Dietary requirements and special requests will be accommodated as best we can based on availability.
If your reason for needing a hamper delivery is medical, a doctors note must be included with your application.
All hamper recipients are enrolled on the program for a maximum of 4 months (unless otherwise specified). If a hamper delivery is required past this point, a new application form must be submitted.
It can take 1 - 2 weeks for an application form to be assessed for eligibility. You will be contacted via phone or email once your application has been processed.
